A Study on the Rehabilitation Experiences of Alcohol Dependent Women

Abstract
This study is phenomenological analysis of the rehabilitation experiences of alcohol dependent women. The 6 women who have maintained alcohol dependence rehabilitation over 3 years participated in this study. The research data was collected through in-depth interview. 12 themes emerged from the data analysis: ¡¯drown her troubles to endure exhausting life¡¯, ¡®get stuck in the mire¡¯, ¡¯no way¡¯, ¡¯confess the alcohol problem and ask for help¡¯, ¡®so hard to cross¡¯, ¡®The first step¡¯, ¡®Empowering by the family and support systems¡¯, ¡¯straining to survive¡¯, ¡®helping people helps me¡¯, ¡¯be free¡¯, ¡®experience of recovery and growth¡¯, ¡®living in the society as ordinary people¡¯. 3 categories appeared from 12 themes above: ¡°get stuck in the mire¡±, ¡°struggle to get off¡±, ¡°living in the society as ordinary people¡±. The study provides the understanding of the experiences of alcohol dependence rehabilitation of alcohol dependent women and make suggestions for the improvement of rehabilitation service for alcohol dependent women.
